Yes, it is available through the Xbox ecosystem on Windows PC. The live Microsoft product page calls the game Tears of Metal (Game Preview) and lists PC and handheld under “Play with.” It supports single-player, Xbox achievements, cloud saves and online co-op for two to four players.

No, the native Xbox Series X|S version is not available yet. Xbox Wire announced that console version in April 2026, but described it as “coming soon.” The current US Game Preview page does not list Series X|S as a playable device.

This split explains why you may see Tears of Metal inside the Xbox app or Game Pass while the same account cannot install it on a Series X or Series S. “Xbox on PC” is a Windows storefront and service; it is not another name for the console build.

What is the Tears of Metal Xbox release date?

There is no confirmed Xbox Series X|S release date.

July 22, 2026 is the release date for the Early Access build on Steam and the Game Preview build on Windows PC. Microsoft announced a Series X|S version, Game Pass support and Xbox Play Anywhere, but it did not attach a day or month to the console launch.

Do not copy the PC date into an Xbox console calendar. The safest current status is:

• PC Game Preview: released July 22, 2026;

Is Tears of Metal on Game Pass?

Yes. The current Microsoft product page includes Tears of Metal with PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate. The included build is the Windows PC Game Preview version.

That distinction prevents two common mistakes:

1. A Game Pass title can be included only on selected platforms. Seeing it in the Game Pass catalog does not guarantee a console installation.
2. “Game Preview” means the build is still in active development. It can receive balance, performance, multiplayer and content changes before version 1.0.

Can I play Tears of Metal on Xbox Cloud Gaming?

Microsoft hosts an Xbox Cloud Gaming product page for Tears of Metal (Game Preview), but that page alone is not enough to claim the game is universally streamable now.

During this source check, the regular Microsoft product page listed only PC and handheld as playable devices. Xbox Wire's Tears of Metal announcement named Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Game Pass and Play Anywhere, but did not name Cloud. Access can also vary by region, account and Game Pass plan.

Does the Xbox PC version support crossplay?

The Microsoft listing includes Xbox cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op capabilities. However, live compatibility can depend on both players running compatible patches.

Paper Cult's current Steam patch, version 0.9.57408, says normal crossplay compatibility is temporarily disabled on that version. Steam players who need crossplay are directed to the older “Crossplay” beta branch.

That means the store capability is real, but it should not be translated into “crossplay always works on the newest patch.” Before organizing a session between Steam and Xbox-on-PC players:

• compare the version number shown by every player;
• check Paper Cult's latest patch notes;
• follow the studio's beta-branch instruction only when the versions require it.

The store lists online co-op for two to four players. No local or split-screen mode is listed.

Will Tears of Metal come to Xbox One?

There is no official Xbox One announcement in the sources checked on July 30, 2026. Xbox Wire names Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, not Xbox One.
