Quick summary
- Iron ring: likely an Emblem choice; quest or currency markers can appear alongside the base node.
- Four armored soldiers: community reports a commander choice, with possible traits or an Emblem.
- Merchant, heart and statue icons are recognizable event categories, but inspect the live node before committing.
- Quest and currency markers describe additional or variable rewards, not a guaranteed fixed payout.
- Evidence checked August 18, 2026; current patch is 0.14.58630, but these icon meanings still need a version-visible original capture.

Map symbols at a glance
These are original category symbols for this guide, not copied in-game artwork. Read each evidence label before planning a route.
Iron ring
Community reports describe this as a battle node that leads to a new Emblem choice. A quest or currency marker may also appear with it.
Possible reward: An Emblem choice; a separately displayed quest or currency marker may add another reward.
Route value: Use it when another Emblem choice can strengthen or reroute the build; verify any attached reward marker before selecting the path.
Evidence: Two player reports in the August 2026 map-key discussion; not independently captured on 0.14.
Four armored soldiers
Community reports identify this as a commander recruitment choice. A recruit may arrive with a modifier and an Emblem.
Possible reward: A commander choice; a modifier and an Emblem are reported as variable possibilities, not guarantees.
Route value: Prioritize when army depth or commander traits solve the run's problem; the exact roll is not guaranteed.
Evidence: Two player reports in the August 2026 map-key discussion; reward roll remains variable.
Merchant
The community thread identifies the merchant icon as a clear shop opportunity; inventory and prices are not fixed here.
Possible reward: Access to the live shop inventory; no item, price or discount is guaranteed by the icon alone.
Route value: Route toward it when you have currency and a clear purchase need, not merely because the node is available.
Evidence: Community UI identification; exact 0.14 inventory and cost not independently captured.
Heart
The heart is used by players as the recognizable healing opportunity on the campaign map.
Possible reward: A healing opportunity; the checked sources do not establish a fixed amount, cost or full heal.
Route value: Choose recovery when health is the limiting resource; do not assume a free or full heal without reading the live prompt.
Evidence: Community UI identification; healing amount and cost are deliberately unpublished.
Statue
The statue marks a distinct interaction or event, but the checked sources do not establish one universal reward.
Possible reward: An event or interaction reward shown by the live prompt; no universal outcome is verified.
Route value: Inspect its live description and compare the opportunity cost against known healing, Emblem and commander paths.
Evidence: Icon category named in the community discussion; exact outcome remains open verification.
Quest marker
Players report quests can be area- and character-specific and can reappear on a similar map layout after a failed attempt.
Possible reward: Quest or progression credit; the unlock, payout and recurrence rule depend on the live objective.
Route value: Take it for a targeted unlock or story objective when the current party and health can support the attempt.
Evidence: Current community report; recurrence rule is not confirmed by Paper Cult.
Currency marker
A currency marker signals an additional reward whose type can differ between acts or nodes.
Possible reward: An additional currency payout; both its type and quantity remain variable.
Route value: Compare the currency shown in the live UI with the run's immediate need; do not assume a fixed type or amount.
Evidence: Current community report; currency type and quantity remain variable.
The two confusing symbols
What does the iron ring mean?
Two replies in the current map-key discussion identify the ring as a route to a new Emblem choice. The original poster also observed ring nodes with money or quest indicators. The safest interpretation is therefore:
- the ring identifies the base battle/Emblem opportunity;
- a smaller quest or currency marker can add another reason to choose it; and
- the exact Emblem family, quest or payout is not fixed by the icon alone.
Use the filterable Emblem catalog after the reward screen appears. Do not force a route merely because the node resembles a generic battle ring.
What do the four soldiers mean?
Multiple players identify the four armored figures as a commander recruitment choice. One report adds that a commander can roll a modifier such as a conditional damage bonus and then an Emblem. That detail is useful for route planning, but it is a variable community observation—not a guaranteed trait, Emblem or number.
Choose the node when a new commander or army modifier is worth more than the alternative route. See Village and army progression for the persistent layer around commanders and army composition.
A safe route decision in four checks
- 1
Read the base icon
Identify whether the node is offering an Emblem, commander, merchant, recovery or another event category. - 2
Read every attached marker
A quest or currency symbol can add a second reward. Do not treat the base icon as the whole node description. - 3
Name the run's failure mode
Choose healing for health pressure, an Emblem for build coherence, a commander for army depth or a merchant only when currency can solve a known gap. - 4
Keep randomness visible
Commander traits, Emblem choices, merchant inventory, quests and currency can vary. Plan around the category, then adapt to the actual offer.
What this guide does not publish
This page deliberately excludes per-row odds, complete act-generation tables and fixed optimal routes. The reference site reviewed for planning labels its map database EA 1.0 (July 22, 2026) and derives it from game files. Those old extracted values are useful research leads but are not imported here or silently relabeled as current 0.14 data.
